Extra HelpOur aim is to help you get through the Police entrance test and started on a career with the police force. We have some great news for you: 1). In November 2006, the entrance age for joining any police force in Scotland was dropped to 18 years of age (before this you had to be 18 and a half). 2). Strathclyde police have launched a trial offer for a limited period: Candidates who sit and fail the entrance test will be offered a re-sit after three months, not the usual six months period. Unfortunately, this offer is only available to first time candidates. 3) Strathclyde police are currently running a SET course in Glasgow intended primarily for ESOL (English as a Second Language) applicants, but open to all. The course runs for eight weeks, on Monday and Thursday evenings at the EMEC Centre on Paisley Road West, Glasgow. The course is free and applicants have the opportunity to sit the SET test at the end. Contact Sgt Ewan Henderson or the recruitment team on 0141 532 6825 for details of future courses. 4) Strathclyde police are currently running some SET courses for women only at Jackton, Police Headquarters, East Kilbride. If you want to find out more, phone the recruitment team on 01355 566362. If you have any thoughts or suggestions as to what you would like to see on the website, please let us know.
